CHELTENHAM, PA – The Friends of Cheltenham Community Tennis have been working closely with our School Superintendent, Dr. Marseille, and Elkins Park Principal, Dr. Doria, and with their support and approval of we are introducing an after school program in 2016-17 school year for the Elkins Park students. With a grant from the USTA, we have been able to purchase equipment for the students to use during this program. According to Lori Siegal, President of Friends of Cheltenham Community Tennis, “getting our youth interested and involved in tennis at an early age is critical to success of developing young talent. Developing top ranked competitors is not the objective to the program, whether these children decide to compete or merely embrace the sport as an extracurricular activity the key is to keep the children active and to introduce them to a sport they can play and enjoy for a lifetime.”
We are honored to have our EP staff teacher, Michele Staroba lead this program. Michele Staroba has been a nationally ranked player and is still competing and loving tennis.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead, cultivating our young students into passionate, skilled tennis players.
